表した曲らしい
しかし、段々とテイストが変わり
現状の世界を嘆いた曲になったと言う
私はこの曲に一種の宗教観を感じた
A stainとは何か？
An innocent childとは誰か？
A thornとは何か？
His lifeとは誰の人生を指すのか？
これらが謎で、単に訳すのは不可能だった
そこで
A stain→汚点→我々の犯した罪やそれを悔やむ気持
An innocent child→罪のない子→イエス(?)
A thorn→(子がイエスを指すなら)傷→イエスの傷といえば磔のこと
His life→(上の前提が全て正しければ)イエスの人生→罪を背負って生きる人生のこと
とすれば私の中では端然と収まった
何れにせよ、私はこの曲が大好きだ
私の見ている世界は希望に満ちているより
寧ろ歌詞にあるような、冷たい世界だからだ
誰かが最初に痛みを感じる
その理不尽さに憎しみを覚える
愛は打ち砕かれ
憎しみは至る所に蔓延る
それは人の心を蝕んでいき
人々は啀み合うようになった
きっと誰が悪いわけでもない
でも本当にこの世界を変えることはできないのか
そもそもどうしてこんな世界になってしまったのか
後悔しても全てが遅い
でも本当にそうだろうか
このような心情は誰もが一度は抱いたことだろう
絶望を唄うようで、本当は希望を語る曲なのだ
